A lot of times, I think artist and creatives can become stagnant within their work when there’s too much repetition and not enough freedom to just make whatever they want. At least that’s how it’s been for me lol. I love my business. I love what I’ve created, but sometimes I miss just playing around in the studio or wood shop and just making whatever I want without thinking of selling it afterwards. So I’ve decided to revisit one of my skills…. Designing floral arrangements. I have several that I will be revisiting like woodworking, sculpture, welding, illustration, screen printing. I've recently picked up a new client by the company name GoBonanza. They're an event based photo company that specializes in bringing a highly designed and unique Photo Booth experience to any event. I was initially brought on as a designer/woodworker for their custom photo booths. This project below is redesign of their previous booth. The previous design was off balanced, lacked texture, and just wasn't what the client wanted design wise. The client wanted something light for her new home. "Light Ashy colored" if I remember correctly. So I went with Ash hardwood. It isn't ashy gray, but its light and warm. I asked if I could do something funky with the legs and she was all game. So here is a lose step by step of the Dining table. 72x43x32. The Legs It took some math to get the angles right and wide enough to cover the length, width, and weight of the table. I did lap joints for the vertical pieces and an angled dado joint for the floor pieces. I always label each piece. It keeps me organized. (hence the blue tape) The Top I bought rough lumber. So I had to plane and join each surface square and flat. I also decided to do a walnut inlay to tie the legs in with the top. Assembly before sealing it. After sealing it.
