Dining Table- 4 Seater

Image
Materials- Pine and Steel w/ honey stain and resin This was my first time using resin to seal a piece. I did a few test runs and even came up with a new product that will launch in October 2017. So be on the look out for that.  I did not make the legs. A fellow Fort Houston member by the name of Courtney made them. She did an amazing job and it was great working with her.  I brushed the legs with sand paper, then sealed them with a clear gloss metal sealer. (more angles)

Whiskey tasting flights

I had the pleasure of working with Green Brier Distillery creating some whiskey flights out of old whiskey barrels. It's an on going job. So every 4- 6 weeks I'll make about 100 of these. Its a bit tedious, but the pleasant whiskey aroma and final product make it worth while. (drilled and sanded) (close up) (Finished product)

Dining Table- 4 Seater

Materials: Poplar w/ Walnut connectors and a honey stain The toughest step in this project were the legs. I cut a 5 degree angle for them to gradually open up as they ascended to the top.  The design came out visually intriguing while remaining sleek and minimal.  (Before the stain and glue up) (finished product- table top)

Simple Coffee Table (Commission)

The client wanted something light for her new home. "Light Ashy colored" if I remember correctly. So I went with Ash hardwood. It isn't ashy gray, but its light and warm. I asked if I could do something funky with the legs and she was all game. So here is a lose step by step of the Dining table. 72x43x32. The Legs It took some math to get the angles right and wide enough to cover the length, width, and weight of the table. I did lap joints for the vertical pieces and an angled dado joint for the floor pieces. I always label each piece. It keeps me organized. (hence the blue tape) The Top I bought rough lumber. So I had to plane and join each surface square and flat.    I also decided to do a walnut inlay to tie the legs in with the top.  Assembly before sealing it. After sealing it.  I added two more braces for support on the legs. In the clients home Im very proud with how this table turne...

Coat rack/Hat shelf

It's been awhile, but I'm back in the shop chopping up. This week I completed a coat rack for a client and install. It's Poplar with Walnut hooks. I kept it minimal and simple. I absolutely love the dark on light grain.

Tri-

Materials: Baltic Birch and wooden Hand clamps When I created this piece I was in a place of disharmony and confusion. I knew my time at Watkins was coming to an end and it was taking a toll on me. I felt my sense of community was dissipating. So amongst all of those emotions came this piece. (Tri-) The three main curves can be referred to as people or opportunities and how they are all interlaced.

Between Land and Water

Material: 2x4s I love using inexpensive materials and making dope pieces! This piece was a headache though. I made so many repetitive cuts and figuring out the arch was a lot of work. In the end it was worth it! This piece was roughly 5 feet wide and 3.5 feet tall. The meaning.... pretty literal. It has to do with birth (fetal position, water, cleansing, purity, etc), life (the ground we walk on, the plants we plant and consume, the things we see, memories we make, etc) and everything in between.

Commission Coffee and side Table

Home Furniture Design

I absolutely adore small spaces. I love the challenge they bring and creativity they spark when trying to accommodate a small living space. When working under conditions like these, I try to stay as minimal as possible. You don't want to crowd the room with unnecessary furniture and decor. Try to keep your colors light and add in a pop of color for flair. This coffee table is osb, cherry, and birch. I absolutely love the different wood chips and colors in the osb board. (coffee Table Top) Twin bed couch made of 2x4s and osb board I love making little make shift tables whenever I need them. So I always keep wooden hand clamps around.
